Net Zero Companies
Climate change is an urgent and daily concern.
The global goal is to create Net-Zero companies and governments. A collective action plan must be followed to achieve long-term commitments.
Eliminating about half of emissions can occur through the development of new technologies and fostering a market suitable for achieving an energy transition.
Companies are major producers of greenhouse gases; they must start generating clean energy and reducing emissions.
World Economic Forum Annual Meating 2022
At the 2022 World Economic Forum in Davos, the focus was on climate and nature.
The annual meeting addressed energy transition and the plans of the most significant countries.
Discussions and debates among world leaders and international experts took place in this context.
The urgency of reducing greenhouse gas emissions is clear. Half of the emissions can be reduced by using existing technologies and maturing new ones. Technologies enable the energy transition; the challenge is the market that does not incentivize them.
The World Economic Forum coalition is growing, currently comprising 55 members, including new government partners such as Sweden, India, Japan, Norway, Italy, Singapore, and Denmark.
Members are formulating new strategies to achieve Net-Zero.
Saudi Arabia, through the Saudi Green Initiative, aims to use a mix of solar, wind, and other green sources by 2030. The goal is to capture 27 million tons of CO2, producing 3 million tons of blue hydrogen and 1 million tons of green hydrogen annually.
The State Grid Corporation, a Chinese electric utility company, is building lines to transfer energy from renewable sources to various regions and industrial zones in the country.
Large companies are also joining the coalition, making strong impacts on technology markets. Examples include DHL with its 12 electric planes and Damian Cement, which plans to launch an electric pilot truck by 2025.
Program 2020-2030
The World Economic Forum's program aims to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve zero emissions from companies and technologies by 2050.
The program focuses on three areas to reach these goals:
- Clean innovation technologies
- New low-carbon industrial bases
- High-emission industries
